A master of humor on film, Max Linder left his mark on the beginning of the 20th century with his delightful antics and remarkable sense of dialogue for the silent era. The Lumière festival showed its admiration in a tribute event last Monday, October 15th, 2018, during which Thierry Frémaux announced the creation of a Max Linder Institute, to be run by the Institut Lumière.

The Hangar of Premier-Film witnessed a major announcement during the film-concert event organized to showcase a program of short films by Max Linder. Accompanied on the piano by Serge Bromberg, "The Return of Max Linder" attracted a curious and excited audience.

Thierry Frémaux, Director of the Institut Lumière, paid tribute to Maud Linder, daughter of the great French figure of silent cinema, who recently passed away, in the presence of Prune Berge Santelli, her sole heir, and Sophie Seydoux. He then spoke of Maud Linder's aspiration, tasked to the Institut Lumière, to manage Linder's heritage and create a Max Linder Institute.
