Working in ticketing, welcoming the public, installing the Village, distributing catalogs or decorating venues: Alejandro Bolaños, age 38, a volunteer for six years at the Lumière festival, has multiplied his missions.

The festival is a real pleasure for this native of Mexico who moved to Lyon in 2011. It was also at Lumière that he discovered the artist who has since become one of his favorite directors, Agnès Varda: "The screening of her movie, ‘Cleo from 5 to 7’ is one of my fondest memories of the festival. I found this film magical, poetic. And Agnes Varda is a touching woman”. A fan of David Lynch, Pedro Almodóvar and the flamboyant Rossy de Palma, Alejandro, a well-informed cinephile, never tires of exploring gems of the festival: "This is where I discovered the works of Marcel Carné, including ‘Children of Paradise,’ what an incredible moment to see it on the big screen!”.

An industrial designer by training, Alejandro even worked as an art director on short films made at the University of México. A passion for cinema has always inspired him. A volunteer for the Lyonnaise "Radio Plural," the 38-year-old shares his passion with the public: "This is what interests me most as a volunteer of the Lumière festival: we are somewhat the link between the organizers and the public.” For three years at Pathé Bellecour, festivalgoers have certainly come across this volunteer with the contagious good humor.
